Episode 04

VPN

If you think of the internet like commuting in a big city, a VPN is basically a private lane for your traffic, so no one can see where you’re going or what you’re doing online. That’s it. Nothing fancy.

Without a VPN

You join free airport or café WiFi, open your email, check your bank balance. Someone at the next table can intercept your traffic using free tools, or attempt a man-in-the-middle attack. Your IP, your activity, and sometimes even session details are exposed. It feels harmless until it isn’t.

With a VPN

Same public WiFi, but everything is encrypted and routed through a secure tunnel. Even if someone tries to snoop, all they see is encrypted nonsense. Your data is encrypted on your device and decrypted only by the VPN server before it reaches the destination.

Not unhackable, but far safer.

Perfect? No. Useful? Absolutely. Once you know this, you won’t connect to public WiFi without one. Just take it from a trusted provider.
