SSO

SSO is about centralising authentication, so your identity is verified in one trusted place instead of being spread across dozens of apps that were never meant to have access to your passwords.

One underrated benefit: your password lives with a reputed identity provider, built to store credentials securely, rather than in plain text across random tools.

A scenario most teams have lived through

Someone leaves the company. They had access to ten or twelve applications. IT disables the main systems, but one old tool gets missed. Not intentional. Not malicious. Just human. And that one forgotten login quietly becomes a security gap.

This is where SSO helps. Disable the user once and every connected app loses access. No ghost accounts, no follow-ups, no surprises later.

Worth knowing

The identity provider is where you authenticate and enter your password. The service provider is the app you’re trying to reach, which trusts the identity provider’s verification.

SSO isn’t about convenience first. It’s about reducing risk by removing chaos.
